I have been in labour most of 2017.

Trying to give birth to my first book.

Periods of feeling emotional, excited, restless, anxious and impatient.

And LOTS of disrupted sleep.

As a matter of fact, I am writing this post at 3:32 am.

On December 10, 2017, Darren Schofield and I uploaded the PDF manuscript from my kitchen table.

On December 21, 2017, a reader emails me photos of it on their kitchen counter.

#BeccaToldMeTo physical paperback cover #BeccaToldMeTo physical paperback inside

All the email said was, “I LOVE it !!!!”.

11 days to go from my laptop to a physical book in a reader’s hands.

I’ve been playing with computers for 37 years and it still blows my mind what you can do.

What a great time to be alive.

Thanks Jill.

P.S. For a behind-the-scenes view of the self-publishing process, I created this video from 5 clips Darren shot on his phone. He came over to the house with a round of coffee (and a hot chocolate for my son). It was pretty exciting even though we both sound pretty subdued 🙂
